But the money-spinning primates turned the tables on their trainer when he slipped during a show, with one quick-thinking monkey flooring him with a kick to the head... At one point the monkey trainer grabbed a staff to hit the monkeys, only to find himself facing a stick-brandishing monkey that cracked him over the head.

District officials suspended an El Cerrito middle school principal Monday morning while investigating how a student managed to corner and rape a 12-year-old classmate last week during school hours... An upswell of campus violence last spring in El Cerrito prompted the district to sign a contract with the city police department... That deal came after a large group of students knocked down a teacher and threw rocks at her during a lunch period in May. Police arrested five students in connection with that attack.

UPDATE -- the hall monitors at the school are declaring it consensual sex, with one saying, "I know for a fact that girl could've knocked that guy out with one hand tied behind her back."

A 98-year-old woman was indicted Friday on a second-degree murder charge that alleges she strangled her 100-year-old nursing home roommate after making the victim's life "a living hell" because she thought the woman was "taking over the room."

Laura Lundquist was sent to a state mental hospital for a competency evaluation before her arraignment. Her defense attorney, Carl Levin, said she has a "long-standing diagnosis of dementia, as well as issues of cognitive impairment."

She is believed to be the oldest murder defendant in Massachusetts state history, but might never go to trial because of her mental health issues.

A 420-pound man has died after the stretcher being used to load him into an ambulance tipped over, spilling him into the street... Earlier this year it was revealed that medics were considering using a Chinook helicopter to take Britain's heaviest man to hospital after ruling out conventional methods of transport. In 2002 Mr Mason had to be transported from his bed using a forklift truck after paramedics and firemen were unable to lift him.

A student collapsed at a party and died after complaining the loud bass music was ‘getting to his heart'. There was no trace of alcohol or drugs in his body and his heart was in good condition. A coroner recorded a verdict of natural causes, saying the straight-A student was killed by sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS), a heart disorder which kills 12 young people a week.

Instead of incinerating their euthanized puppies and kitties, one South African animal shelter decided to leave them in the hands of Yahweh. I applaud their efforts, and I know PETA does, too.

A Sacramento County trucker, who spent his murder trial cracking jokes and proudly admitting that he had killed his sister and her husband in their El Cerrito home, celebrated his birthday Tuesday by being sentenced to die by lethal injection... Wycoff, a Citrus Heights resident who acted as his own attorney in the trial, said he had killed the couple because he thought they were too liberal, were raising their children wrong and because they hadn't invited him over for Christmas.
